Give a Year — $99
Legacy Trek — My Life History book on a table

You know someone whose life deserves to be more than memories that fade. This is how you help them get it down — not a scrapbook, not a list of facts, but their real story, written the way they'd tell it if they had the words.

What They Type Becomes a Book

They answer a question, in their own words:

“I grew up in the '70s in a small town. I remember Dad waiting in those long gas lines. We didn't have much, but nobody did, so it didn't matter.”

Their book tells it:

I came of age in the 1970s, in a small town where nobody had much and nobody minded. When the 1973 oil embargo hit and gas lines stretched around the block, Dad waited with everyone else, engine off to save what was in the tank. We were living through history — we just called it Tuesday.

Their memories, their voice — shaped into a story their family will actually enjoy reading.

★★★★★

“I don't know how to write very well, so I was nervous. But when I saw the finished story, I couldn't believe it — it reads like something you'd buy in a bookstore. Professional, detailed, and it's still my story. It even wove in historical facts about the time period I was talking about. Like when I mentioned growing up in the '70s, it included details about what was happening in the country back then that I'd completely forgotten about — it made my story feel bigger than just me. I even got stuck trying to remember things from my past (I'm getting older, after all), but there's a tool that actually helped me remember. And the fact that I can invite family to contribute? Amazing.”

1. Choose Their Plan

Prefer a different fit?

Every book is delivered as a beautifully formatted PDF. Printed hardcover copies are an optional add-on.

2. Question Emails

Their book is built from their own answers. One popular way to produce answers is from regular, recurring emails — Legacy Trek will email your recipient one question at a time, about their life, in their own words, typed or spoken. This sets how often the questions arrive; they can change the pace anytime. The other option is to simply record what they wish to record.

3. Where We Send the Code

The gift code goes to you and only you — we never contact your recipient, so the surprise stays yours.

The Plain Deal

  • If your gift is not redeemed within 183 days (6 months), we automatically refund you in full. You never lose the money.
  • The year starts the day the code is redeemed, not today — it keeps until you're ready to give it.
  • We recommend leaving about a month at the end of the year for editing and producing the finished book.
  • The price you pay covers today's price. If our prices have risen by redemption day, the difference is due then.

The year doesn't start until they redeem it — buy now, give it whenever you're ready.

Not redeemed in 183 days (6 months)? Full automatic refund. You never lose the money.
