1. Who We Are

Legacy Trek (legacytrek.net) is operated by Havari LLC. Legacy Trek helps you write personal histories, family history books, and memoirs. Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to mail@havari.org.

2. Information We Collect

• Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form) when you create an account.
• Your content: the stories, answers, photos, documents, and audio recordings you add to your projects. This often includes personal and family information — that is the purpose of the service. It belongs to you.
• Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers.
• Usage data: if you accept analytics cookies, we collect anonymized statistics (pages visited, general location by region, device type) via Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the service: storing your projects, generating your book drafts, producing PDFs, print orders, and audio.
• AI features send the content you provide (answers, documents, photos you opt in) to our AI provider solely to generate your book content — it is not used to train models.
• To process payments and manage subscriptions.
• To respond to support requests you send us.
• To understand overall site usage (only if you accept analytics cookies).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use two kinds:

Essential cookies are always on — the site cannot work without them. Analytics cookies are off until you accept them, and declining never limits your use of the site.

5. When We Share Information

We share personal information only with the service providers needed to run Legacy Trek, and only for the purposes described here:

• Stripe — payment processing.
• Google Analytics — anonymized usage statistics, only with your consent.
• Our AI provider — processes your content to generate your book, under confidentiality obligations.
• Print partner — receives your book file and shipping address only when you order a printed copy.
• Hosting provider — the servers the site runs on.

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may disclose information if legally required to do so.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your projects and content are kept for as long as your account exists so your books remain available to you. If you delete content, it is removed from the active site. To delete your account and associated data entirely, email mail@havari.org and we will process the request within 30 days.

7. Security

All traffic to Legacy Trek is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. Access to production data is limited to Havari LLC personnel who need it to operate the service.

8. Your Rights

All users

• Access, correct, or delete your content at any time from within your account.
• Request a copy or full deletion of your data by emailing mail@havari.org.

California residents (CCPA/CalOPPA)

• Right to know what personal information we collect (described in this policy) and to request access to it.
• Right to request deletion of your personal information.
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
• We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.

EU/UK residents (GDPR)

• Rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection — exercised via mail@havari.org.
• Analytics cookies are set only with your prior consent, which you can withdraw at any time (see the Cookies section above).
• You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9. Children

Legacy Trek is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify account holders by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
